Barb Doug

Barb has four decades of experience in the nonprofit and social service field. She graduated from Bemidji State University with a degree in Community Service which was invaluable in her subsequent work as Director of a sheltered workshop, as a county social worker and in the role that she has held since 2007, as Executive Director of Peacemaker Resources. As one of the founders of an experiential, project-based charter school, she gained knowledge and experience in educational and governance models.

Creating spaces in which people feel positively and significantly connected to fellow humans has been the driving force behind Barb Houg’s education and career choices. She believes strongly that if people felt valued and had the skills to help others experience positive self-regard, the world truly would be a better place.

Although Barb will soon be retiring from Peacemaker Resources in her position of Executive Director, her ties to that organization will remain strong. She endeavors to help connect the new Director – Linsey McMurrin -- with the TEL community and other resources and champions of SEL.
