Camille Locklear Goins

Dr. Goins is an Assistant Professor in the Educational Leadership and Specialties Department and serves as the Project Director for the First Americans' Educational Leadership (FAEL) Program at the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP). She has over 19 years of experience working with K-12 and higher education as a middle and high school teacher, coordinator, district administrator, Project Director, and University professor. Additionally, she has served on School Turnaround Teams and the SREB High Schools that Work Team to help transform low-performing schools.

At UNCP, she leads the Teaching and Learning Centers Shared Interest Group (Culturally Responsive Teaching) and serves as a mentor to Native American students. She is committed to providing training and support for educators to help create culturally responsive schools and has led multiple workshops at the local, state, and national levels. Her research interests are American Indian Education, Career and College Readiness, Culturally Responsive Teaching, Educational Leadership, and STEAM Education. 

Personal: She is married to Kevin of 22 years and has four children.
