Elizabeth Hearn

Most importantly, Elizabeth is incredibly excited to learn alongside new TEL Fellowship colleagues! For the past ten years, she has served as the Executive Director of the CREATE Teacher Residency, a teacher development and support initiative powered by Atlanta Public Schools and Georgia State University. The vision of the CREATE program – reflecting Elizabeth’s core values – is “a compassionate, skilled, anti-racist educator for every student”. She has also served as a middle school science teacher and neuroscience researcher studying the neurophysiology of social attachment. Other professional interests include teaching Cognitively-Based Compassion Training (CBCT) and facilitating Critical Friends collaborative discussions, in conjunction with the School Reform Initiative. Elizabeth completed degree work in education and biopsychology at Georgia State University, Boston University, and Brown University and currently lives in Atlanta with her husband and two shockingly fast-growing teenage sons. She loves to be outdoors as much as possible – running, hiking, gardening and playing ultimate frisbee.
