Emily Crum

Emily Crum lives in Portland, Oregon. Currently, she works as an Equity and Inclusion Coach in Parkrose School District. In 2019 she studied restorative practices in New Zealand through a Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching grant. Over the last 15 years in education, Emily has built on her background as a bilingual early childhood educator incorporating social and emotional learning, culturally responsive teaching practices, and play based learning.  During the summer of 2015, she traveled to Finland to take a course called the Myths and Realities of Finnish Education with educators from around the world. She is an advocate for social justice unionism. After serving in various union roles, she spent 3 years as the president of Reynolds Education Association. Early in her teaching career she co-founded Oregon Save our Schools, a community group that advocated against the standardization.
