Helen brings a diverse background in teaching, writing, research, and educational design from her years working in health education and teacher education. As a first generation Korean-American, she is focused on the intersecting goals of racial, social, and ecological justice. Helen believes that societal transformation will not happen without the transformation of our inner lives. For over 20 years, Helen has engaged in contemplative, somatic, and arts-based practices for healing and transformation. She has published articles and chapters on bringing contemplative practices into teaching, learning, and racial healing. Helen is a student of the late peace activist and founder of Engaged Buddhism, Thich Nhat Hanh. She is also a practicing visual artist. In joining TEL, Helen is honored to help empower diverse educational leaders and their communities on their interconnected paths of individual and collective healing and transformation.
