Peter Bonanno, Ed.M., is an independent consultant focused on making contemplative practices accessible through learning design, training, scientific rigor, and models for large-scale delivery. He has been a founding team member in six different organizations within the fields of education, mindfulness, emotional intelligence, and transformative leadership. Peter has designed and taught programs around the world for diverse organizations including the United Nations, Google, the US Navy, the American Red Cross, the government of Dubai, Cleveland Clinic, and UC Berkeley’s Greater Good Science Center. As a founding team member of the nonprofit Search Inside Yourself Leadership Institute, he designed a train-the-trainer program that built a global network of over 750 certified trainers, reaching tens of thousands of participants with in-depth workshops, and offering pro-bono programs to thousands more each year. He led the design and training of over one hundred facilitators from the Bhutanese Ministry of Education, enabling the Ministry to provide all 10,000 school teachers in Bhutan with training in mindfulness and emotional intelligence skills. Peter currently works as a strategy consultant for Transformative Educational Leadership, a curriculum consultant and trainer for the United Nation's Peace On Purpose program, a learning design consultant for the meditation app Balance, and author of The Book of Awe, a unique visual introduction to contemplative practices to be published in 2020 by Sounds True. He lives in Oakland, California.
