Cecilia Ussher

Cecilia’s teaching practice began in 2009, after transitioning from a corporate career. She left her job to pursue a “broadening tour,” where she committed to cultivating a life of purpose and joy. In the future, she hopes to spearhead the establishment of SEL, equity, and mindfulness initiatives designed to meet the needs of the communities in which she serves. 

For the last 10 years, her teaching practice has been primarily based in communities of color in the greater Los Angeles area. Currently, she works in the Pico Union area as an Instructional Coach and Yoga Enrichment teacher. Her hope is that the TEL program will provide her with a bridge between her personal practices, her professional life, with knowledge and connection to a community of support. 

She was born in Birmingham, United Kingdom and her parents are from Ghana, West Africa. Traveling, live music, and spending time with family and friends over a good meal are a few of her favorite things.
