Connie Cuttle
Connie began her career as a high school English teacher in Crown Heights in 1973 and in 1988 became Coordinator of Student Affairs which formally started her work with school culture and climate, SEL and respect for diversity. In 1992, she joined the staff of the Brooklyn High Schools District as the Director of School and Community Relations for the district’s 30 schools. In 2001, she moved to the DOE’s Division of Human Resources and then to the Office of Youth Development. She began service in 2004 in the Office of Safety and Youth Development from which she retired in 2015. Citywide initiatives for which she was responsible included K-12 training in bullying and bias prevention and intervention; school support after 9/11 and Hurricane Sandy; intervention for schools designated persistently dangerous by the NY State Education Department; professional development in social emotional learning, restorative practices and crisis intervention.
