Lea Abrams

Lea Abrams began her work in education as a health and sexuality educator. She studied meditation, movement therapies, yoga and nutrition and applied these principles of wellness to her work. She worked in high schools and middle schools as a consultant and with Planned Parenthood. She was the director of a Waldorf early childhood program and studied the teachings of Rudolph Steiner. She taught special education and literacy in public schools for six years before landing in the independent school world. She taught cultural history to lower and middle schoolers and developed curriculum. She became coordinator of the 4-7 grade program and began to develop a mindfulness program. For the past six years, she has been teaching at an all girls school. She currently teaches fourth grade and is involved in a number of projects related to coaching teachers, equity and exploring how we use shared school spaces. She is starting a K-12th grade mindfulness program. She is also an educational consultant for several schools and organizations.
