Marta A. Montañez Fernández, D. Ed.
Marta was in San Juan, Puerto Rico. She obtained a bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, a master's degree in Curriculum Design and Evaluation from the Metropolitan University of Puerto Rico, and a doctorate degree in Education from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. She is also certified in Mindfulness-based Social, Emotional, Academic and Ethical Learning for K-12 Systemic Change, of Transformative Educational Leadership (TEL).
For twenty years she has worked as a teacher of spanish, mathematics, science, and history at the K-12 level, in several public and private schools in Puerto Rico. In these scenarios she also has served as a consultant, trainer and mentor to teachers and principals. She has design, develop and edit school textbooks of various disciplines. During the last six years she has focused in developing educational initiatives about Social Emotional Learning skills for teachers and students in Puerto Rico.
She currently works as Academic Coordinator of the Educational Project of the Communities of Caño Martín Peña, Educational Consultant in private companies, in addition to facilitating educational projects of Social Emotional Learning and Development to teachers and students in private and public schools.
