MaryJo Allegra
MaryJo is a visual artist and educator who leads with courage, integrity and a sense of wonder. Her art and teaching practice are grounded in thoughtful observations that lead to carefully curated experiences where every individual’s gifts are seen, heard and honored. Throughout her tenure as an art educator, MaryJo has witnessed how language and environment influence our self-efficacy. She has developed classroom routines, supportive mantras and visual aids/posters that promote mindfulness and inspire a growth mindset. Her visual art practice is fueled by human connection through FACEYOURSELF, a programmable portrait making machine, as well an online blog, ArtEngine.org, where MaryJo shares her passion of teaching art to children. A collaborator at heart, MaryJo thrives in environments that value our collective consciousness by prioritizing healthy communication and building on the ideas of others. She seeks the challenge of speaking truth to power and leaning into conversations that disrupt the status quo.
