Pedro L. Carreño
Pedro is currently a Partner of School Design at Transcend. In this role, he champions community-based, liberatory design with his partner schools as we reimagine schooling to lead to more extraordinary and equitable learning experiences for all students. Pedro is also an adjunct faculty instructor at Alder Graduate School of Education, teaching courses on Inclusive Education as well as Child and Adolescent Development. Pedro proudly serves on the board of directors of Voices College-Bound Language Academies in California.
He has spent the past 15 years dedicated to embedding excellence, equity, community, and joy in learning environments as a teacher, school leader, and coach. Prior to joining Transcend, Pedro served as the Senior Program Manager for Leadership Development at Innovate Public Schools, coaching and developing school leaders from around the Bay Area and Los Angeles.He also spent a year supporting schools and communities abroad, including in Antigua, Guatemala with Sueños and in Cape Town, South Africa with South African Education Project (SAEP).
Pedro earned his BA in Latin American Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, his master’s from the Relay Graduate School of Education. Pedro was a member of the second Transformational Educational Leadership (TEL) fellowship cohort, where he was able to integrate TEL’s four threads (leadership, SEL, equity, and mindfulness) in building a BelovED Community.
