Shallegra D. Moye
Shallegra is a dedicated and passionate scholar practitioner and community champion. From helping families navigate the complex and often intimidating world of urban public education to helping those who serve students and families build capacity for transformational practice, Shallegra is all-in.
Shallegra’s community engagement includes serving as an advisory committee member for the P.R.I.D.E. program at the University of Pittsburgh (Positive Racial Identity and Development in Early Education) and other youth-serving organizations. In addition, she is supporting projects that will increase teachers of color in the region and that reimagine public education as an advisor.
Her commitment to service and leadership has earned her the Ella Baker Leadership, When She Thrives Community Cultivator, and State of Black Learning Black Excellence in Education awards.
Shallegra will earn an Education Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh in Urban Education, where her research focuses on university/public school partnerships.
