Sharon Hill
Sharon is the Principal of Greenacres School in Scarsdale, New York. Her career as an educator spans more than 20 years beginning in New York City public schools as an elementary school teacher in Districts 4 and 2. For more than 16 years she was a faculty member at PS 290, The Manhattan New School, where she was a fourth-grade teacher and progressed in school leadership while serving as the Staff Developer, Assistant Principal and Principal. Sharon also worked as a staff developer at Teachers College Reading and Writing Project, and a Literacy Consultant in the United States and Gothenburg, Sweden. She has been involved in the Inner Resilience Program for more than 10 years as a member of a group of New York City principals, led by Linda Lantieri, involved in cultivating social emotional learning and contemplative practices in schools. Sharon is the co-author of the book, The No-Nonsense Guide to Teaching Writing, (Heinemann 2003). She is a member of the NCTE, has presented at conferences and the author of Language Arts article - Our Vision of Possibility for Literacy - Keeping the Passion: What Really Matters (2006).
